If the soap scum problem is mild, you may simply scrub it away every week to avoid stubborn buildup. You can use cleaners such as borax for this job.
If you only use your bathtub for showering, you may fail to notice mildew on the side of the bathtub. This part of the tub is typically hidden from view by the shower curtain liner, which also contributes to the high humidity in this area and creates an ideal situation for mildew to grow.
