Warning Signs to Remember When Choosing a Bathroom Remodeler

Hiring the right contractor helps ensure the success of your bathroom remodel. However, choosing the wrong one may increase the risk of your project encountering problems along the way. As soon as you notice a red flag with them, you have to reevaluate your options anew. Here are some of the warning signs to watch out for.

The Contractor Has No License

Most states require home remodeling contractors to secure licenses before they ply their trade. Also, businesses must be fully registered before they take on their clients’ projects. Never hire a remodeler that doesn’t provide both. One way to tell legitimate and fraudulent companies apart pertains to how they handle the payment process. Steer clear of those who ask you to write a check made out to cash or send a payment to a different person or company.

The Contractor Doesn’t Provide References

It is a red flag if a prospective contractor for your shower installation project refuses to give you a list of client references. These are former or current customers that you can reach out to regarding their experience working with the remodeler. If they do give you the list, be sure to call them and ask the important questions.

The Contractor Lacked Planning and Preparation

Even if the contractor is legitimate, that doesn’t always mean they are a good fit. If the remodeler is ill-prepared or disorganized, it’s a sign that you should move on to the next one. Choose a remodeler that does the exact opposite—develops a concrete plan, communicates with you daily, and shows eagerness to handle your project from start to finish.
