Things to Consider When Choosing a Shower Size

One of the most important decisions you will make when planning your bathroom remodel involves the dimensions of your new shower. The ideal size for your shower depends on the type of shower you’re installing–i.e., whether it’s a walk-in shower or a combination of a shower and a tub. Today, the local shower and tub replacement pros at The Bathroom Store explain everything you need to know about shower sizes.

Standard Shower Sizes

When planning a bathroom remodel, you need to consider the size of your bathroom space and the available standard shower sizes. Begin by standing in the area where your new shower will be installed with your arms outstretched. Turn around in a circle. This should give you an idea of the shower’s size and whether you’ll be comfortable with it or not.

Lengths will vary, but when it comes to widths, the most common are 36, 32 and 60 inches. Standard shower sizes can be as small as 32” x 32”, though most homeowners feel more comfortable in a shower with dimensions of 48” x 36”.

Choosing the Right Shower Size

If your bathroom is big enough, we recommend going with minimum dimensions of 60” x 36” for your new shower. Make sure that there will still be room to accommodate your sink installation.

Talk to your contractor about the possibility of a custom-sized shower, especially if you want to include a bench or other features. Of course, you have to determine whether or not you want a regular shower enclosure, a walk-in type, a wet room or a shower-tub combo.

At The Bathroom Store, our team works closely with you to identify your wants and needs for your new shower, whether you’re looking for a tub-to-shower conversion or need a brand-new shower installation.
